Montgomery County beef processor to pay $2 million for polluting - Thu, Jun. 17, 2010 - A Montgomery County beef-processing plant that officials said released fish-killing pollutants into the Skippack Creek will pay $2 million in penalties, federal officials announced Wednesday. The fines were levied after the firm, Moyer Packing Co. in Franconia Township, dumped pollutants into the creek. Skippack Creek is a tributary of the Perkiomen Creek, which flows into the Schuylkill. - Vandals spill millions of gallons of water from reservoir – Millions of gallons of water have escaped a Kansas dam. The problem is that it wasn’t supposed to happen and now authorities are calling the case a crime. The incident happened September 10th and now authorities are searching for who’s responsible for tampering with the recently-completed Horsethief Reservoir in Hodgeman County. It was only last week that Horsethief Reservoir passed state inspection. The quality of construction was checked out, but maybe they should have looked at one more thing – security.
